After decades of teaching, I am — to my surprise — writing children’s books.   I’ve come to understand that writing books is not the end game. Getting published is not the end game.  What matters is sharing my books with young readers and their reading partners.   I am eager to read my books and have conversations with young readers!  Seems to be true — once a teacher, always a teacher.

 What type of visit…

  • Read aloud with the pages of the book projected on a screen

Questions from the audience submitted in advance, then answered to the assembly

  • Read aloud with students

Questions from students and answered conversationally.

  • -The writing process in the real world.

-The story of how ideas “pop up” and demand attention.

-Pathway to getting published – the concept of a “Book Coach.”

-Illustrations are key! How Jo Ann does the illustrations.

    -How books receive awards.
